The IES British Columbia Chapter offers a variety of learning resources and opportunities that lighting and allied professionals will require throughout their professional careers to stay at the forefront of the art and science of lighting design, manufacturing and installation.
The Fundamentals of Lighting course is a 3-day course cover topics: Light, Vision & Colour; Lighting Design Guide; Light Sources & Ballasts; Luminaires & Controls; Lighting Calculations & Photometry; Lighting for Interiors; Lighting for Exterior; Energy Management.
The intermediate Lighting Course is broken into three segments. Upon successful completion of all three segments, a certificate will be awarded. This educational program is designed as the "next step" for those who already completed FOL-09 (ED100) or those with a number of years of experience in lighting. This course is a good next step for thsoe preparing fo the NCQLP - LC Exam.
The course is typically held on weekdays after office hours (6pm - 9pm). Please visit Event Registration for upcoming course dates.
The NCQLP (LC) exam takes place once a year, typically the first Sunday of November. There is a Vancouver exam site and IESBC is willing to assist anyone wanting to write the 4 hour exam by coordinating a study group. This session is 8 weeks of group participation, not lectures. Location will be based on the participants. Dates are flexible to accommodate changes. The exam is run by NCQLP. This study group does not cover the exam fees
